9th July Caroline Bay

What do you do on a Saturday morning when you travel half way round the world to visit friends? You go to ‘Garage Sales’! This is a traditional New Zealand pass time according to Nick and started with buying the paper from the garage to find out where the sales were being held. A garage sale is a car boot sale held at your home, you indicate this, you tape a poster (provided by the Timaru Herald) onto your wheely bin outside your house.

The bay down the road is called Caroline Bay and we went there for our constitutional today. There are grassy areas, a hall where they hold markets, pre-built stalls for the carnival, paddling pool, bird sanctuary, memorials and water falls.
