Last night Geoff went on the internet to find out where the nearest Model Zone shops were and then popped off after dinner to one round the M25 about 30 minutes away. More bargains – and a sighting of Ikea, must go there before we go back!
A day trip to London to visit our favourite museums was needed before the Games start next week and this was our opportunity. So we wandered in and went to see the dinosaurs at the Natural history museum, Maddy got a triceratops she now calls Timmy and Geoff a fridge magnet. from here we went to the Science Museum shop and then onto Aspley house, home of the Duke of Wellington. As we walked through Hyde Park the Household Cavalry rode past with a green van following to sweep up the horse droppings (lol).
Lunch at McDonalds, where we accosted a woman with a Model Zone bag to find out where the shop was. After buying some more bargains we headed for the Olympic stadium (and another Model Zone shop). There was a massive shopping centre as you came out of the station with a shop just for Lego and a John Lewis with the official Olympic store in it and a viewing area for the park. It also had a picture of the queen made from sweets, a Lego model of the stadium and a Dalek!
After this we headed for home home to build up our strength for the next trip.
