Ivy has a day off on Thursday as well, so today we piled into the car, it is a very close fit, and headed off to St. Albans to look for a crystal shop Ivy wanted to visit even though she had bought some on our trip to Stevenage. We parked at the Velarium Park and wandered up to the town past the Roman Wall, duck pond and cathedral.
Much to Ivy’s disappointment the crystal shop was no more so we wandered the streets and ended up in a cafe eating fish and chips (not as good as Gravely’s in the York designer outlet) before returning to the car via the inside of the Abbey.
Back to Hatfield stopping off at a garden centre, Ivy got a plant and I bought button shaped fridge magnets, and then into the aquatic centre next door. It brought back all sorts of memories seeing the Koi, orf, tench, rudd, . . . . . yes it was well stocked and it is part of the argument for buying a house when we come back next year so we can have a pond again. We looked at the tank fish and coral as well – they didn’t have a blue lobster but I can see our next trip north will involve visits to the aquatic centres we used to haunt. The Koi were hungry so Maddy bought food and fed them, it was good to see them following her round.
