We left at 9am to drive to Staveley to meet the tour bus. Our journey took us along the inland scenic drive, driving along with the mountains on our right hand side and passing over a number of river beds.
At Staveley we stopped for a cup of tea (Geoff) and milkshake (Maddy) while we waited.
Then we drove to Mount Potts via Clearwater Lake, where there was ice (it was almost snow).
From here we carried on to Mount Sunday (also know as Endoras) where the Rohan lived, to look at it really is a strange rocky outcrop in the middle of an windswept valley.
After the trek to the top we drove back through the river to the sheep shearing station that the tour people had done out for their champagne lunches, we chose orange juice instead to go with our sandwiches and chocolate cake.
Then it was back to Staveley and from there to Nick and Lynn’s for a fish and chip tea. The fish of the day was Hoiki and it tasted good, the chips came in scoops not bags so we shared 2 scoops between us.
Looking through the pictures afterwards there were a lot where the snow had altered the colour composition so Nick had a play with it to sort it out ready for tomorrow and the trip to Lake Tekapo . . . . . .
