Today we started on our journey to Endoras. After a hearty breakfast we made a picnic from some of the contents of Lynn’s cupboard then set off to pick extra supplies from PaknSave such as coke and crisps. From PaknSave we ventured on to the garage to buy petrol and then onwards to Ashburton. When we got there the first place we looked for was the the i-site, each town in New Zealand seems to have one, where we picked up some info on local spots to visit. After visiting the local museum, which showed the history of Ashburton from 1100,s to present day we drove to the craft centre and looked at their spinning wheels and weaving looms and had a cup of tea.
The next stop on our itinerary was the air museum, where Geoff had an interesting time chatting to the man there.
FRom here we drove to Lake Hood thinking it was a lake. Technically it was, but, there was a whole housing development around it with holiday homes and private boats and a restaurant called ‘The Lake House’. We didn’t eat there instead we had our picnic in the car.
From here we drove to Methven and the Ski Time Lodge that was our home for the night.
stood in front of the hotel this was the view.
We finished our picnic in our room rather than eating in the hotel and Geoff got to watch some New Zealand tv and a couple of films. It was strange to watch something without Arabic subtitles and understand what people were saying on every channel we looked at. Then we slept.
